Feeling Ungroovy

I'm really disappointed. I had been so looking forward to receiving my first Groovebook.

It's supposed to be this monthly photobook subscription where you can get 100 quality printed and tearable photos in a book form for only $2.99 including shipping and handling. It's name is due to the fact that there's a groove in the side of the book spine, allowing it to be inexpensively mailed.

Instead, I got a month of waiting, a user-unfriendly application, and lots of frustration... not to mention, still no book.

I had found an online code for a free first groovebook. I downloaded the Groovebook app on my phone, carefully selected the 100 photos I wanted to add, and entered my coupon code. When my hundreth photo was selected, the book automatically closed and got sent to print. The website said to expect 10-12 days of shipping. That was fine. I was patient. I understood that Groovebook had just come off the wings of Shark Tank success and was bound to be flooded with thousands of orders.

But when two weeks rolled around and my credit card already charged for this first supposedly free trial book, there was still no book. I was starting to get worried. After all, this book contained many photos of family and friends. I didn't want some stranger to get my personal photos in their mail. I tried contacting the company through email. Still no response.

Now week three was rolling around. But still no book or response. My monthly subscription was set on automatic renewal. But how was I to decide whether or not to continue my Groovebook subscription when I hadn't even gotten my first one?!

I tried contacting them again; this time, successfully through facebook. But I got little reassurance, only that my book had already shipped. With a heavy heart, I decided to cancel my subscription before my second groovebook photo submission was due to avoid paying another month of fees.

Overall, it's been a bad experience with Groovebook. If you're still interested, be advised about the long long wait times. Sadly, you might never receive your book that you had been so excited about.

AKA my fav tv show

Groovebook was the first Shark Tank product I tried to purchase. But hopefully, it will not be the last (despite my bad experiences).

In the future, I'll probably wait at least a year before buying "As Seen on Shark Tank" products; give them more time to sort their systems out.

I came up with a list of other Shark Tank products I thought were cool / would like to try:

The Wanna-Buys / Wanna-Try

1. Simple Sugars
Started by Lani Lazzeri when she was still in high school, this all-natural scrub made from sugar and oil have been used by some to cure their eczema. If this product can really deliver on that claim, I'd more than happily add Simple Sugars to my daily skincare routine.

2. ChordBuddy Guitar Learning System

This snap-on system helps you learn guitar chords. Trust me, while learning guitar chords isn't exactly rocket science, it's not as easy as you think either. This simple apparatus would make learning how to play the guitar that much easier. It even makes me want to learn how to play again!

3. Cookie Dough Cafe

I've been really craving cookie dough lately. Cookie dough cafe, gourmet edible cookie dough, would really satisfy that need. Sadly, it's not in stores anyway near me as of now.

4. Gotta Have S'more S'muffins

Seeing a pattern here? Lots of food? Sweet sugary food. I love s'mores and I love muffins. Thank goodness someone came up with s'muffins!

5. How Do You Roll

Think Chipotle + Sushi. A match made in heaven? I think so. I'm really digging these fusion foods. Also unfortunately though, there doesn't seem to be a HDYR chain in my area.

The Cool

1. Sky Ride: How cool is that? Seriously. Like 10000000000x cool.

Transportation of the future? Nah. Supercool backyard addition. Yah.
Brought to you by the inventor of Rollerblades.

2. Subzero: How cool is it? Literally. Below freezing cool.

Customized ice cream made for you on the spot with some help from our good ol' friend, liquid nitrogen.

3. Cycloramic: How cool is it? 360 degrees cool, baby.

"Look, Mom! No hands!"

4. First Defense Nasal Screens: How cool is it? Sorry, you can't look cool with this on your nose. You just can't. The idea and design behind it is cool though!
Allergies begone!

A special shoutout to the inspiring Momtrepreneur behind Ava the Elephant!

What a great way to help kids take their medicine! After all, as Mary Poppins would say, just a spoonful of a sugar helps the medicine go down. Kudos to you, Tiffany Krumins!
