There are just so many things you can do with pasta.
I happened to have some extra mushrooms and leftover heavy cream on hand, so I decided to whip up an original recipe for Mushroom Alfredo pasta. The results of the experiment turned out to be pretty tasty.
Ingredients:
- Mushrooms
- Garlic
- Butter
- Heavy Cream
- Parmesan Cheese
- Chicken Boullion
1) Saute 2 cloves of minced garlic in a pan with butter
2) Add in 1 cup of chopped mushrooms to the pan. Cook until browned and the room starts to fill with hearty mushroom aroma.
3) Add 1 cup of heavy cream to the pan. If you don't have enough heavy cream, whole milk works as a substitute.
4) Stir vigorously. Add parmesan cheese to taste. Optional: add pepper to taste.
5) Add half a cube of chicken boullion. This is really important to achieving that brilliant umami flavor.
6) Prepare pasta, like a penne, according to box instructions. Keep it al dente. Add to the mushroom sauce when ready!
